Births and babies

I finished my number of catches that I needed last night. I am excited but there is more to the numbers for why I am here. I love this place. The women are truly amazing. We have been busy with births and postpartum visits and everything else. I have been living at the clinic so that I don't miss anything. It is fun to be around all the midwives and the people who come in and out of here. I am tired but a good tired. Tired because I am doing what I am suppose to be doing here.

I am thankful for everyone here who has guided me and been so gracious in allowing me to be so involved. I know it is going to be hard for me to leave. There is such a need here and it is somewhat simple. So many of these women die in childbirth when in most instances they need a trained healthcare provider. Most people make about $3 a day and can't even come close to affording a hospital stay. And in a hospital that we would be totally appalled at. It has been tearing at my heart to see that. Just last night we had a mom come in who had lost her first baby at birth at home and came here for her second. She was very fearful during labor and delivery but after the birth she was so so happy. She and her mother were so thankful, rightfully so, and I was overwhelmed with all of it. I couldn't imagine. What a blessing to be able to help with that birth. So, it is going well and I look forward to what is left of my stay here. It is going so fast.
