3 babies!
So, yesterday we had three babies all in the morning. They were nice to space them out well. It was a good day. Everyone is happy and healthy. One of the babies was born with a double cleft palate so that was a little hard. It was hard to see the mother's reaction to it. Really none. For a long time she didn't want to look at him. I fell in love with this little guy very quickly. He is something special.
I do love this story though. So, we had a mom come in while we had the two other moms here to deliver and she drops in. She had never come to the clinic before and was planning to be in Manila but they wouldn't let her on the boat. So... she came here. I love God's grace because she had that beautiful baby here and next door at the orphanage they do the surgeries for these special babies. I normally love all our babies, but, this baby. He is so amazingly great. He has big eyes that just search like he wants to know what is going on with everyone. I love it. Over time his mother did warm up more and began to try to breastfeed. Due to the double cleft he couldn't create the suction needed. Theresa brought over some special bottles with special nipples and tried that. It didn't work very well. So, they fed him her milk with a syringe so he would at least get something. Theresa and I really were looking into what to do and have been praying hard. So, last night I got up and she was breastfeeding, and well. He is latching and sucking and it is so great. She is still feeding him with the syringe to make sure he will get enough but even the fact that he gets to be at the breast is great! God is so good. We continue to pray and I hope to see his progress and perhaps his surgery. That was my great day.
Love to all!!
