Christmastime.
I love Christmas, this year has been a little busy but it is slowing down now and we have been able to enjoy some fun things. Will and I have been watching movies and reading books and he is loving wrapping his presents to give to himself. He said to me the other day,"Mama, you know what the best presents are? The ones I give myself." I don't know if this is a good theory but it was pretty funny. We are learning that Christmas is about giving and being around the ones we love the most.
I attended a week long seminar on basic midwifery skills and it was fun and I learned a lot at the beginning of the month. After that we had two births and I loved them. I am loving home-birth and I have decided that this is where babies are suppose to be born. :) This is of course my opinion and I think one I had before I was even involved in home-birth. There is something really special about being the one to come into their environment and to be a there to be apart of the birth. I am amazed at how many people think that this is so scary and that it is a brave thing to do. Most of us have family members that are still alive that were either born at home or their parents were. Our culture and society can be very frustrating when it comes to birth and pregnancy. Yet another reason I am becoming a midwife. My studies are going well and I have been very busy trying to balance family, school and work. But... I am loving it.
We are going up to Garden Valley for Christmas and I am excited to just spend time with family and enjoy Christmas. I just can't believe that 2009 is almost done. It has been a hard and good year.
