Midwifery?
So I know it has been ages since I last wrote. A lot has been going on in our lives and we have just been plain busy. We have been able to enjoy the summer and it is nice that it is not as hot this year. Well...
I am now officially a student midwife at a birthing center here in town. It is a long story as to how I got here, but God is good. I have been at the center for two weeks now and have been able to attend 4 births. I love the women that I work with and my head midwife is an amazing woman of God. I am so blessed to be apart of this clinic because they view it more as a ministry than a business. We are all believers and it is so wonderful to feel the power of God in that place. Rigth now I am just being a sponge and learning all I can. I hope to be enrolled in the National College of Midwifery in the fall. It is a distance learning college and so I will be under my head midwife in more of a apprenticeship setting. My goal is to become a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) sooner than later.
It is working out great with the schedule because when I am working Matt has Will most of the time and he is with my mom the rest of the time. I am on call for births and it is a lot of hours but it is so much fun. I love every second I am there. Birth is such a beautiful, intimate thing and to be able to be apart of it is such a privilege. The mother's I have been able to assist with are such strong women and it is just awesome to see what a woman can do when she lets her body and mind do what it needs to. God is so good and I am just excited to be doing this.
It is funny because I look back at the road that has led me here and it all makes sense. I am so glad that the Lord has allowed me to see that through all the pain and trials we have gone through that He had this plan all along. He has thrown open the doors for me to do this and the only way I am is through and because of Him. I am in awe that He has chosen me to do this and I am blessed to learn in the environment and with the women I get to.Tthere is light when we persevere to get through the dark. I never dreamed a month ago that I would be able to feel the happiness that I have when I am at the center and with moms to be. I know that Sky and baby girl were put in our lives for a reason and I pray for them always, but I am so thankful that after that Storm God brought this to us.
I am also grateful for Matt because without him and his support I would not even dream of doing this. He has been so encouraging and willing to put up with the hours without pay for now. I do ask for prayer because we do feel the effects of me doing this because we both know that this is where I am suppose to be. we love you all and thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
